Pools, Public Comment, and a $350,000 Storm-Recovery Hearing: Your Township Week Ahead for Rydal-Meadowbrook

Published: September 22, 2026 Category: Township Reading time: 3 min

Three township moments this week deserve a spot on every Rydal-Meadowbrook calendar, and each one is a chance to be heard. The future of the township’s aging community pools gets a public meeting Wednesday, the Board of Commissioners meets Thursday, and a storm-recovery grant hearing follows on September 30. Here is what is on the table for the week of September 22.

Wednesday, September 23: Pool Feasibility Study Public Meeting

The township’s consultant-led Swimming Pool Feasibility Study takes its next public input step Wednesday, September 23, at a meeting open to all residents. The study, approved by the Board of Commissioners in February, examines the aging Crestmont and Penbryn pools and how their future could be shaped and funded. A public opinion survey is still open online at surveymonkey.com/r/ATPoolStudy, and the work is structured to align with DCNR requirements so the township can pursue state recreation grants if a new or rebuilt facility moves forward. If your family uses the pools, this is the meeting where your voice counts.

Thursday, September 24: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting

The Board of Commissioners holds its regular monthly meeting Thursday, September 24, at 7:00 PM in the Township Building, 1176 Old York Road, Abington. Public comment is heard at every meeting, and fall is when the agenda begins turning toward the next budget cycle. In recent years the preliminary budget has been introduced in October and adopted in December, so this is the moment to start paying attention to how the township plans to spend.

Wednesday, September 30: Hurricane Ida Grant Hearing

Mark Wednesday, September 30 at 10:00 AM for a public hearing on a $350,000 modification to the township’s Hurricane Ida grant program. The public review window at the Department of Community Development runs through October 15. Hearing details are posted on the township calendar at abingtonpa.gov, so neighbors can follow along or weigh in.
