Who is the RMCA?
Over 100 years serving the Rydal neighborhood, RMCA is one of the oldest incorporated civic associations in Pennsylvania — serving the Rydal-Meadowbrook community since 1948.
How long has RMCA been around?
The Rydal-Meadowbrook Civic Association was founded in 1948 by residents determined to protect and improve their neighborhood. The community's roots trace back even further — to 1888, when the Reading Railroad built the Rydal train station (originally called Benezet), establishing Rydal as a residential community.
As one of the oldest incorporated civic associations in Pennsylvania — with over 75 years of service — the RMCA has a long tradition of advocacy and community improvement, having hosted 250+ community events since its founding. Our all-volunteer board is elected by members and guided by the mission to protect public health, safety, and property rights. The neighborhood is served by Abington School District (approximately 7,000 students across 13 schools) and surrounded by 27 parks offering over 375 acres of trails, sports fields, and open space.
Service runs from Old Welsh Road to Meetinghouse Road — a stretch of approximately 3 square miles in Abington Township, Montgomery County. Abington Township has a population of 58,500 across 15.5 square miles, making it the second most populous township in Montgomery County. Our members include hundreds of households who share a commitment to preserving the character and quality of life in our neighborhood.
