Think Rydal quiets down once the concert series wraps? Not even close. The third weekend of July rolls in with a Saturday farmers market worth setting an alarm for, a free Sunday concert in a beautiful outdoor amphitheater, and a gallery show that leaves this weekend for good. Here is your neighborhood shortlist for the next seven days.
These are the kind of weekends that remind you why suburban life works. A slow Saturday morning picking out peaches, a Sunday night under the trees with live music, and an afternoon spent standing in front of work that makes you think. Each one is within ten minutes of Rydal, and each one is something you will be glad you did.

White canopy tents come into view one by one, early sunlight rakes across tables of heirloom tomatoes and sunflowers, vendors chat with early customers. 01 Glenside Farmers Market — Saturdays at the Train Station
Every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Glenside Regional Rail Station parking lot at 49 West Glenside Avenue transforms into one of the best farmers markets in Montgomery County. It runs through late November, and right now it is at its absolute peak.
The vendor list reads like a who-is-who of local farms and makers. Herr Castle Farms brings pasture-raised meats, Lone Wolf Farm Market delivers whatever came out of the ground that morning, Heck of a Cookie keeps the sweet tooth satisfied, and For The People Bread supplies the kind of sourdough that sells out before noon. Olive Lucy, Spring Honey Bees, The Table Loaf — the lineup is deep and it changes week to week.
The setting is part of the charm: the old stone train station, the regional rail tracks just beyond the tents, the hum of the SEPTA West Trenton Line arriving and departing while neighbors pick out sweet corn and zinnia bouquets. It is a true Saturday-morning ritual, and it is barely a five-minute drive from the heart of Rydal. Bring a reusable bag and come hungry.
🎬 Vlog direction: Wide establishing shot of the outdoor amphitheater at Temple University Ambler, golden-hour sunlight filtering through mature trees, families spreading blankets and settling into lawn chairs, a band sound-checking on stage. 02 Upper Dublin Summer Concert Series — Free Sunday Nights at Temple Ambler
Just over the township line, the Upper Dublin Summer Concert Series is running free Sunday-night concerts at the Temple University Ambler campus in Fort Washington through August 18. Two upcoming dates deserve a spot on your calendar right now.
Sunday, July 21 at 6:30 PM — Where's Pete Band takes the stage with a genre-spanning set that swings through rock, pop, jazz, funk, R&B, Latin, country, and dance. Yes, all of it. These guys are local favorites for a reason: their playlist pulls from six decades and there is something for every age in your group. Bring the grandparents, bring the kids.
Then Sunday, August 4 at 6:00 PM — Large Flowerheads arrive with a groove-heavy set of Sixties and early Seventies covers: the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Mamas and the Papas, and more. This is the show to catch if you grew up with the original vinyl or just wish you had.
Both concerts are free. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, pack a picnic, and settle into the grassy amphitheater. If the weather does not cooperate, the show moves indoors to the Learning Center Auditorium. This series is a hidden gem that Upper Dublin and Abington families have been enjoying for years, and right now it is delivering some of the best live music within a ten-minute drive of Rydal.
🎬 Vlog direction: Slow interior tracking shot through a sunlit gallery, white walls lined with paintings and mixed-media works, a visitor pausing to study a piece, quiet contemplative atmosphere, natural light through tall windows. 03 "Revolutionary Women" — Final Weekend at the Abington Art Center
The 2026 Summer Juried Show: Revolutionary Women closes this Sunday, July 20 at the Abington Art Center, 515 Meetinghouse Road in Jenkintown. If you have not seen it yet, this weekend is your last chance.
The exhibition brings together artists from across the region who were asked to explore what "Revolutionary Women" means to them. Some pieces reference historical figures — suffragists, scientists, artists who broke the mold — while others speak to the contemporary experience of womanhood. The range is striking: painting, photography, mixed media, sculpture, and textile work fill the center's main gallery and adjacent spaces.
The Art Center is housed in the historic Alverthorpe Manor, a 1920s Tudor Revival estate set on nine acres of gardens and lawns. Walking through the galleries feels like being in someone's thoughtfully curated home — the rooms have fireplaces, crown molding, and tall windows that flood the artwork with natural light. After you tour the show, wander the grounds. It is one of the most beautiful settings in the area, and the exhibition is worthy of the space. Admission is free, and the gallery is open through the weekend.
Living here means never running out of things to do.
From Saturday peaches and sourdough at the Glenside train station to Sunday night music at Temple Ambler to a gallery show that closes way too soon — this is what summer in Rydal and the greater Abington area looks like. The rhythm is real. The community is right here. All you have to do is show up.
