On a warm Saturday afternoon in August, over 80 Rydal-Meadowbrook neighbors descended on Alverthorpe Park Pavilion for the RMCA Summer Neighborhood Gathering — our biggest community turnout in years.
Families spread blankets on the grass while kids darted between the playground and the picnic tables. The grill fired up around noon, and by 1:00 PM the line for burgers and hot dogs stretched past the pavilion. Old friends reconnected, new neighbors introduced themselves, and the energy was exactly what the RMCA was built for.
Community at Its Best
The gathering featured lawn games for all ages — cornhole, bocce, and a spirited round of community trivia that tested everyone's knowledge of Rydal-Meadowbrook history. Questions ranged from "In what year was the RMCA founded?" to "Which two SEPTA stations serve our neighborhood?"
Board members shared updates on active projects, including the continued maintenance of the Meadowbrook Bird Sanctuary and progress on the Valley Road bike lane. Residents signed up for volunteer opportunities and membership on the spot.
What's Next
Missed this one? Don't worry — the RMCA Annual Meeting is coming up on September 13 at 7:00 PM. It's your chance to vote on board elections, hear the annual report, and weigh in on next year's neighborhood priorities. We hope to see you there.
